Rest in Peace, Gary Carter.
The reason I became a Mets fan. The reason I wanted to play catcher in Little League. The reason I loved the Mets in 86. This guy was my favorite player on the Expos and when he was traded to the Mets I became a Mets fan joining my father and grandfather. I am really saddened at his death, but know he probably decided the world had gone to Hell because of the new Rays mascot, DJ Kitty.

This is how stupid the Tyrant god-King Oz is
You know that 2000 year institution? The one that cut its teeth by being illegal for 400 years, being fed to lions, boiled in oil, drawn and quartered, crucified, beheaded, and emerging as the foundation of Western Civilization? The one that basically invented all social work? The one that invented education? The one that invented environmentalism? Let’s go after THEM. I mean,...

I am So Proud of my Daughter
Gianna, in her first big national cheer competition was part of a team that worked very hard and took home the Grand Champion Award! This means they had a higher overall score then every other team (even older teams) in the competition! I’m sure pictures will follow.

New Rule for Priests
If there is no music because Mass is at 6:30 AM and Mass ends at 7:35, your homily was too long or took extra dramatic pauses at weird times. Or something.

If You Support Obama or Any Career Politicians
It is time to start asking why. I don’t care if you are not Catholic, Christian, Muslim, Jewish or Atheist. Any time a government tells you that they simply are going to force a religion, any religion, to violate their own beliefs, something is wrong. Any time they are going to detain “only certain suspected Americans” indefinitely, something is wrong. Any time they...

I Hate Phones
If I call someone and the phone says they are “not accepting calls at this time” I wonder: Is this for me specifically? Why am I not allowed to leave a voicemail? Shouldn’t they just turn the phone off or put it on vibrate? What if I was dead in a ditch?

I got a Kindle Fire for Christmas
It’s neat but needs a more robust app store. All the apps distract you from reading. But I love my apps on this thing.

Kerrrrrayyyyyzy Ron Paul →
For my money Ron Paul is the only alternative RIGHT NOW to the insanity in Washington. I said RIGHT NOW because I truly hope we get more candidates with “outside the box” non-beltway thinking who may be a little more palatable. As it is, I like him.

Gianna is a Beast!
My daughter was at a cheerleading competition yesterday and out of all the 5-9 year old teams, she and her partners held up a girl in a “prep” (she held a foot at her shoulder level, another girl held a foot and a third girl braced her ankles while the girl stood up straight) for over 8 minutes! They won a medal for being the strongest team there!!! I’m so proud of my girl!!!

Got a new Xbox for my birthday yesterday
My kids had no idea what it was since my old one has been broken for 18 months. I opened it and my girls were thrilled at opening a present. Screams, laughter, all kinds of awesome. Then… Me: Well, you guys are orphans, now! Gianna: Yay! Mommy, we’re ORPHANS! She clearly doesn’t understand how important this gift is to me. Or the word “orphans.”

Rock Center tonight had a tragic story about legalized eugenics in North Carolina…. And failed to mention Margaret Sanger and the UN’s initiatives to wipe out the populations of the poor around the world. When do we stop trying to eliminate the part of humanity that drives us to love more deeply?
